SAFETY

Date safely.

Online dating can lead to great connections, but it is important to protect yourself online and when meeting someone in person.

Before you meet

  • Take time to get to know the person through the service before meeting.
  • Be cautious if somebody quickly tries to move the conversation away from SwiftDating.
  • Never send money, gift cards, cryptocurrency, banking credentials or financial login details to somebody you meet through the service.
  • Be suspicious of urgent requests for money, investment opportunities or stories designed to pressure you emotionally.
  • Do not share your home address, workplace, passwords or other highly sensitive information too early.
  • Consider a voice or video call before meeting if you want additional reassurance about who you are speaking to.

When meeting in person

  • Meet in a public place for the first few meetings.
  • Tell a trusted friend or family member where you are going and who you are meeting.
  • Arrange your own transport so you can leave whenever you choose.
  • Keep control of your phone, drinks and personal belongings.
  • Do not feel pressured to stay, drink alcohol, go somewhere private or do anything sexual.
  • If something feels wrong, leave and seek help.

Consent and boundaries

Consent must be freely given and can be withdrawn at any time. A match, message, date, previous sexual contact or relationship never creates an entitlement to sexual activity, images, money or continued communication.

Respect another person's boundaries immediately. If somebody asks you to stop contacting them, stop.

Scams and fraud

Romance scammers may spend days or weeks building trust before asking for money or encouraging an investment. Do not transfer money to someone simply because you have spoken to them for a long time or believe you are in a relationship.

Report suspicious profiles through SwiftDating and contact your bank and the appropriate authorities promptly if you believe you have been defrauded.

Report and block

If a member makes you uncomfortable, threatens you, scams you, sends unwanted sexual material, appears to be under 18, impersonates somebody, or breaks our rules, use the in-service report and block tools.

You can also use our complaints procedure for concerns about content, moderation or safety.

Immediate danger

If a crime is in progress or somebody is in immediate danger in the UK, call 999. SwiftDating is not an emergency service.
